The Word Cool!

Nowadays, the word cool is utilized as a term that emphasizes a positive action or a person’s attitude. For example, I have cool friends, which means, I have very nice friends. Or, that place was very cool, which means, that place was worth visiting. As you can see, by using the word cool we give a hipness to the sentence- making it sound more modern or younger. Everyday people are looking for ways of making language more playful.  For that reason the word cool which originally meant a drop in temperature has reclaimed a new meaning which is to be great, to be nice, to be the best.

So far, I am still working in my New Year’s academic resolutions. I have seen an enormous change in my academic development trough out this first part of my semester by following my three major resolutions.  Managing my time better, paying more attention in class, and using my school’s academic resources, are an important, but difficult things to do. When you made a commitment, you have to work harder in order to be able to accomplish it. For me, these three resolutions have forced me to change my routine and life complete. Sometimes I feel that I won’t be able to continue doing it. However, when I see how much I had accomplished, I feel motivated to continue working towards being a successful student. Something that I had noticed is that I am not only getting better academically, but and also improving my day-to-day activities by following these three resolutions. I think that by establishing these resolutions, I have the opportunity to understand that a successful student is better than being an unmotivated person.

What do I love about writing...

We have been taught that in order to express our ideas in writing, we should follow a process that would help us to create a bridge between the writer and the reader. Sometimes, it is hard for me to follow those rules. However, the two things I enjoy the most about the writing process are choosing the subject and getting my paper back. Why? I have always imagine the reader sitting confortable in a big chair, drinking s cup of cocoa, reading my paper and smiling at it (because it is cool.) That thought alone make me feel happy and motivated to continue writing to the best of my abilities. I don't think academic writing does it for me. I considere myself as a person who loves free writing. I guess that is why I have to work harder in brainstorming my idea's because I am always expanding my imagination rather than focusing in my main idea.

Sometimes, we don’t realize how important is to manage our time in order to comply with deadlines. Deadlines are always part of our day-to-day routine. We experienced them with work, school, family activities, and personal projects. Therefore, no matter what or how we do it there is always a day and time when activity is due. For this reason, I advised to use stick notes, cell phones remainders, a calendar, or a notebook in where you can write the activities you need to accomplish. And last of all, managing your time, focusing in one thing at the time, and being realistic with your commitments would help you to succeed with your future deadlines.
